Letter From The President

Welcome to the website of the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group, more commonly known as DMAIG. We are a great resource for THON alumni to stay connected to the cause! It is an honor to serve the largest AIG for the 2017-2019 term. I hope that you find plenty of opportunities to continue your involvement with THON and Four Diamonds.

I have been involved with THON since the Fall of 2003, after being inspired by THON ‘03.  As you can imagine, I’ve witnessed tremendous growth and many changes in almost every aspect of the THON community during that time. For example, I have experienced the move of the event from Rec Hall to the Bryce Jordan Center. While THON was growing exponentially, so too, was the alumni base that supported it. Events like the Hope Express, Lights Camera Cure, and Fairfax 5k were started and grew quickly along with the more formal events like the Hope Gala and Liberty Ball. The need for a cure has risen, but so too has the number of supporters in the fight against pediatric cancer.

I believe in what my predecessor, Jeff Reyes has stated, that “as alumni, we hold the unique opportunity to steward the cause even further and spread the word farther than it has ever gone before.” Over the past year, we adopted some new artwork that embodies our commitment in the fight.  We have also refreshed our mission statement so that our group represents passionate alumni determined to see an end to pediatric cancer. No amount of time is too short, no donation is too small, it can all be used in this fight that one day, we will win because of you!

For anyone asking the question, “How can I stay connected with THON after graduation?” or “How can I help support THON now that I’m an alumnus?”, I hope you find the answer on this website and if not, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our board.

That being said, it is an incredible time to be a THON alum! We have the responsibility and opportunity to make a difference. I hope you will continue in the fight and learn about more ways to get involved with alumni throughout the year and THON Weekend, and I challenge and encourage all of you to “make an impact” in supporting THON.
For The Kids, Forever.
