About DMAIG

The Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group (DMAIG) is a University-sponsored Alumni Interest Group (AIG) designed to bring THON™ alumni together and keep them connected to one of Penn State's most beloved traditions. Through the DMAIG, THON™ alumni can continue to support the world's largest student run philanthropy through regional events, relive their THON™ experience through the Dance Marathon Alumni Weekend, and keep in touch with old friends.
The Mission of the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group
DMAIG promises to promote a continuing relationship between students and alumni who care about THON™ by providing opportunities for alumni to give time, money and resources to aid the Four Diamonds Funds in the conquering of childhood cancer.
Letter From the DMAIG President
Welcome to DMAIG.org, a great resource for THON alumni to stay connected! As the 2012-2013 DMAIG President, my wish is that you find plenty of opportunities to continue your involvement with THON and the Four Diamonds Fund.
It is hard to believe that THON 2013 will be my fourth THON as an alumna. Now, to many of you, that may not feel like a long time. But my first THON as an alum back in 2010 was an “adjustment” let’s say. For the first time, getting on the floor meant waiting in never ending lines…and learning the line dance meant trying not to trip over the BJC seats. But THON was still THON and being part of it after graduation wasn’t a bad thing, just different.
That is when I really learned what DMAIG was all about and what it offered alumni, like me, adjusting to their new involvement with THON. Being a THON alum meant moving to new areas and starting regional events that benefit THON. Being a THON alum meant coming back to THON weekend to reunite with your former captains outside of the BJC and finding new ways to talk to your friends on the floor. And being a THON alum meant still supporting the Four Diamonds Fund whenever possible, whether its attending the 4D5K or mini-THONs around the state.
So with my fourth THON as an alum nearing, I am glad to say that being a THON alum is just as exciting as being a student, dancer, or captain. I hope you all will learn more about the opportunities for alumni during the year and on THON Weekend 2013 and find your new niche in supporting THON!
