Alumni Give Back: Your Easy Way to Make a Kid's Day
Submitted by Technology on Thu, 05/09/2013Are you looking for ways to support Four Diamonds Families without waiting for THON 2014? Dance Marathon AIG has the perfect solution for you as you return to Penn State for Blue–White Weekend!
We're collecting children's books to replenish and refresh the books available to Four Diamonds Families during their visits at the Penn State Children's Hospital. Over Blue–White Weekend, a special drop-off location will be available outside of the THON office in 210 HUB to collect your donations.
We'll present all collected books to The Four Diamonds Fund this May to culminate this year's Alumni Give Back campaign. All donations are welcome and we encourage donors to write special notes to the children inside the book covers.

We, too, Can Dance - April 6, 2013
Submitted by Technology on Thu, 03/14/2013The Washington-Greene Counties PSU Alumni Chapter is proud to present the third annual We, too, Can Dance Charity Social on April 6, 2013 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge #776, 138 East Maiden Street in Washington, PA. The event is an evening of beginner-friendly ballroom lessons and dancing. All proceeds go to THON, supporting the Four Diamonds Fund’s goal to conquer childhood cancer.
Dance instructors donate their time to give group lessons throughout the evening in swing, cha cha and line dances. Appropriate music is played between sessions for participants to practice what is learned. Most couples/singles have little to no experience, but there are some more accomplished dancers that enjoy lending a hand. It is exciting to see the crowd loosen-up as the evening progresses, knowing we are all there having a great time for a great cause.
There will be a buffet dinner, cash bar, homemade desserts, silent auction and other opportunities to support THON. The cost is $30 per person or $60 per couple, advanced sales only. The attire is business casual. Please have your reservations secured by March 29th with a check made out to Penn State Club Washington-Greene Counties and mailed to:

Congratulations 2013 Hope Express!
Submitted by Technology on Mon, 02/25/2013Congratulations and thank you to all of the 2013 Hope Express runners, drivers and moralers that completed their trek from the new Children's Hospital in Hershey to THON, not only delivering the letters from the kids in Hershey to the dancers but also with a Hope Express record-breaking donation of nearly $95,000 to THON! What a powerful experience to see so many THON Alumni and Four Diamonds Families come together to continue our fight against pediatric cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Freiberg who joined us as a driver this year. We were so fortunate to spend time with such a special doctor who makes a difference every single day in the lives of the families we all care so much about. We'd like to particularly congratulate every runner from the Extreme Team and Express Team who made the journey in record-breaking times of 140 miles in 19:59 and 135 miles in 20:13:

Thank you all for your time and energy this year to make an impact and continue fighting FTK! Thank you for taking on the burden of 135 and 140 miles in an effort to bring hope, a smile and a cure to our honorary teammates this year and all Four Diamonds Families so they know they are not alone in this fight. This year definitely goes down in the record books and we can't wait to see what Hope Express 2014 brings! Keep an eye out for Runner and Moraler applications in the fall so we can continue to grow and break even more records FTK! Congratulations again on a wildly successful event Hope Express 2013!

On behalf of the entire Dance Marathon AIG board, I want to thank you for being a part of and sharing last week's record-breaking weekend with us. We are inspired by the increase in participation we see each year from our members and know that the expansion of alumni participation in THON-related events will become instrumental in the search for the cure for cancer.
