The Rick Funk Dance Marathon Leadership Award

The Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group's 2010 Rick Funk Scholarship Award Application

Biography:

For 10 years Rick Funk served as the advisor to the Dance Marathon Overall committee in his role as Coordinator of Greek Life. During that time period the overall total went from $297,000 to $1.3 million. In 1993 he served as President of the Association of Fraternity Advisors. After leaving PSU in 1996, Rick went to and has been at Alabama ever since. He started in the role of Associate Dean of Students and now is Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions. He oversees all recruitment aspects and has developed a regional recruiting program that has grown to 25 full-time and 2 part-time individuals from New York to California that has resulted in record enrollment in both quality (test scores and GPA) and quantity. Some favorite memories of Dance Marathon include being at the first Marathon (1992) to top the million dollar mark, working with the first female Overall Chair and actually dancing (and surviving) 48 hours in 1997 as part of the first alumni couple.

Purpose:
