The Penn State Alumni Association (PSAA), founded in 1870, is the largest dues-paying alumni association in the world. The PSAA's mission is to connect alumni to the University and to each other, to provide valued services to members, and to support the University’s mission of teaching, research, and service.
Today alumni maintain deep ties to Penn State and with each other through the association's many affiliation groups. The PSAA sponsors approximately 280 chartered groups that provide opportunities for professional development, networking, volunteering, and friendship building. The chartered groups are made up of the Alumni Council, regional chapters, societies, and interest groups, the category that the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group falls within.
An Alumni Interest Group (AIG) is a group of alumni and friends of Penn State who have common interests arising from their University-recognized co-curricular activities or common cultural or professional postgraduate interests. AIGs give alumni a creative way to stay connected with the people they were involved with during their student years at Penn State. They also give alumni a way to interact and network with folks with similar interests after they leave Penn State. Many AIGs have a strong student focus and work toward increasing interaction with alumni and students.
